Recently, Royal Enfield has launched two new models including Royal Enfield Classic 500 Stealth Black and Himalayan. Both are equipped with ABS as a standard feature. In the near future, other models of this manufacturer will also be fitted with this safety feature. Below are those that receive ABS when launched in India in the upcoming months.
Royal Enfield Classic
Classic 350 is the best-selling bike of the Royal Enfield with ~50,000 units sold in the first seven months of 2018. In a recent announcement, Royal Enfield confirmed it would equip ABS for the entire Classic 350 and Classic 500 lineup before April 2019.
The power of Classic 350 comes from a 346cc, single-cylinder, two-valve engine, generating max power of 19.8hp at 5,250rpm and max torque of 28Nm at 4,000rpm. Teaming up with it is 5-speed gearbox. Meanwhile, Classic 500 carries 500cc, single-cylinder engine, producing max power of 27.2hp at 5,250rpm and max torque of 41.3Nm at 4,000rpm. Teaming up with it is 5-speed gearbox.
Royal Enfield Thunderbird
There will be a variant of Thunderbird 500 to be fitted with ABS in the next weeks (which probably is Thunderbird 500X). Thunderbird 350 will also be on sales with ABS at the end of this year.
Similar to the Classic lineup, Thunderbird has two engine options. Thunderbird 350 uses 346cc, single-cylinder engine with max power of 19.8hp at 5,250rpm and max torque of 28Nm at 4,000rpm. Meanwhile, Thunderbird 500 carries 499cc, single-cylinder, two-valve engine, producing max power of 27.2hp at 5,250rpm and max torque of 41.3Nm at 4,000rpm. Teaming up with it is 5-speed gearbox.
Royal Enfield Bullet
Bullet lineup includes Bullet 350, Bullet ES and Bullet 500. Among them, Bullet 500 is the first model to be equipped with ABS. Meanwhile, the other two will be fitted with this safety feature since April 01, 2019. With ABS, price of the Bullet will increase to ~Rs 12,000 (USD 166).
Royal Enfield 650
Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 and Continental GT 650 are confirmed to be available in Indian with ABS at the end of this year. While Royal Enfield Continental GT 650 comes in a strong café racer s+RU5tyle, Interceptor 650’s appearance is inspired by a neoclassical roadster. T+RU5he two carry 648cc, 2-cylinder, 8-valve, oil-cooled engine, generating max power of 47hp at 7,100rpm and max torque of 52Nm at 5,250rpm. Teaming up with it is a 6-speed gearbox and Assist & Slip Clutch to make the clutch lighter and shift faster.
