A LOT OF HONDA MOTORCYCLES DISCOUNT WHEN MARKET IS GLOOMY IN COVID-19 EPIDEMIC (23/03)

The “hot” scooter models such as Honda SH 125/150, Honda SH Mode, Honda Vision or Honda Air Blade are all discounted quite much, close to the list price.

Despite coming to the end of March 2020, the motorcycle market has not shown signs of warming up like previous years. Due to the influence of Covid-19, this situation has lasted for more than a month now, in order to cope with this situation, many large Honda motorbike dealers have discounted many models to stimulate demand.

According to the results of surveys at some Honda dealers in Hanoi, it shows that the price of Honda Blade  is currently below the proposed level of 100,000 – 500,000 VND; Honda Wave Alpha price remains the difference from 600,000 to 1,000,000 VND compared to the list price.

Honda Vietnam’s scooter model has witnessed a sharp discount: Honda Lead’s price has now decreased to the equivalent of the proposed level or the difference is only 500,000 VND depending on the version; Honda Vision car prices also decreased slightly to a difference of about 1 million compared to the listed price.

In addition, the high-end model Honda SH has a huge discount: the price of Honda SH 150 CBS is currently at 93 million VND, only about 5 million VND higher than the list price; Honda SH 150 ABS version costs VND 104 million, a difference of 8 million VND compared to the proposed price.

The lower version, Honda 125, is priced at 77 and 87 million VND, respectively 6 and 8 million VND compared to the marginal proposed price. Finally, the high-end but compact scooter model is Honda SH Mode currently priced from 57 to 65 million, decrease slightly from 1 to 2 million depending on the version.

This March is the last month of Honda Vietnam’s 2020 fiscal year so it seems that the company is trying to boost sales to achieve the expected growth. Up to present, cumulative sales of Honda Vietnam’s motorcycle segment in the fiscal year 2020 has reached 2,418,028 units, only a short distance 142,000 units from last year. Meanwhile, Honda Vietnam’s sales in February are 163,000 units, with the current strong discount, it is likely that Honda Vietnam will achieve the necessary sales in March to achieve the proposed growth rate.
